When the sun goes down, the earth's upper atmosphere reflects these radio waves, allowing the signal to reach all continental US locations, and most of North America.
Radio controlled clocks receive this signal through an antenna, and decode the signal through an internal computer, synchronizing themselves each night.

This radio controlled clock uses a UTS movement.
To set the clock, just insert the battery, and press a button to tell it what time zone you are in.
Overnight, it will set to the exact time.
Daylight savings changes are automatic.
